This is the first time (in a gi) that I have tapped a blue belt 2 times in one roll.

This is only the 5th or 6th time I've rolled in a gi, I'm trying to get better at it. I've only ever done no-gi. It's such a different game.

Belt testings are at the end of the month and I got invited to come. **fingers crossed** I want a blue belt so bad!

Anyone else up for new belts in BJJ soon?

anyway.. thats great you tapped a blue belt. the belt system is kinda weird because some blue belts are really whatever and suck, and others have been blue belts for three or four years and are monsters. I trained with this black guy who was a blue belt for five years under cesar gracie. I haven't even been training five years total! The belt system is helpful, but not always totally indicative of how good someone will be.

The two blues that come in regularly at my gym are studs. Really good form, everything is tight, incredibly good timing, and really explosive. I've training for about 6 months and I dont feel like Im anywhere near their level of blue although lately ive been able to hang with them more and more.

I think Id like to get some competition in before i moved up a belt to see how well i really stack up against people who are more competitive white belts since Im pretty much subbing every other white at our gym. It would also be nice to not be trying to sub guys that are 30+ lbs heavier than me.

oh as for the new belts, everybody I train with tells me that they think I should get a purple soon but I am not sure if I totally agree. I see myself there in maybe 6 months.

This is like the 6th time that I've been in a gi I think. Its a different game but I'm starting to like it.

There are blues at our school that have been blue for years that destroy some of the lower blues. It is a wide range. I think our school only gives out belts 1 time a year, maybe less? We are waiting on our BB to come out of Brazil to give them out. Nasal is on BTT and is the NJ Ring of Combat 155 champ.

this is what I like about bjj. The belts are the absolute hardest to get compared to any other system, and there are people who just will NOT progress beyond a certain rank if they don't really bust their balls.

I love that too. Its kinda wierd explaining to people that don't udnerstand that I'm still a white belt..and I've been doing it for 3 years. I'm gonna be so proud so have ANY color.
