Somebody told me about this stuff today, and it looks pretty sweet. Binary explosive, so standard shipping is legal and easy. It seems that in order to detonate you have to hit it with a minimum velocity, but I haven't found any hard numbers on that yet. I was able to find accounts of people doing impact tests on the mixed product with sledge hammers and nothing happening, so it seems pretty safe. Also found a bunch of vids on youtube for it.

    Anybody here ever used it?

Yea, it's not as good as a Star target.

It's a mixture of prilled ammonium nitrate and dark aluminum (a very fine mesh).

    Star target?

Google doesn't seem to give me anything, unless I'm not looking for the same thing you're talking about. Link?

That was up in Memaloose, outside of Estacata, where we have an annual shoot up there in September.

I'm down in Corvallis so I shoot gun games at Albany Rifle and Pistol Club, and Tri County Gun Club a couple times a month. Most weekends I head a few minutes out of town and shoot on BLM land.

    What about yourself?

I'm in Salem, and I usually go with a friend down in Sweet Home to a quarry on the logging roads outside of there. I just found another decent spot in the hills outside of Lyons too.

I've been wanting to check out the Albany Rifle and Pistol Club for awhile now, but right after I started looking into that I lost one of my jobs, so joining a gun club is kinda low on the priority list at the moment.

Ah shit, you're close by. I'm not a member of ARPC, I just shoot speed steel and other comps they put on during on the weekends, those are open to non-members. You can shoot .22 handguns, centerfire handguns and most pistol caliber carbines if you're interested in shooting it sometime, they're a lot of fun.

How's it work for non members to go and shoot there?

I'd like to do one their high power shoots so I can buy an M1 Garand from the CMP, but I'm sure that will be after I'm able to join.

You just show up, pay for the event and shoot. Speed steel costs $10/day and they have a variety of other events too. The ABC children's house benefit match is coming up on the 20th of June. It's $50, but they have free food and an AWESOME prize table. Guns, suppressors, knives, optics, most of the stuff is well over $50. Oh yeah, the shooting events are pretty fun too.

10 lbs. isn't shit. There are people who have touched off over 100 lbs. of it. Less than a pound will toss car hoods.

Yup the shits nothing more than farm grade 34-0-0 fertilizer that sells for 15 bucks for a 50 pound bag at any fertilizer store throuhgout the midwest, and fine mesh aluminum powder. Buying tannerite at market price is a total ripoff.

We've touched off 24 pounds at once with about ten pounds of flour and some .003 mesh titanium.

    That was really interesting.
