The title says it all. Just got my Rebel XT, looking to get some lenses, wanted to know if people have gotten/used tamron lenses, and what their opinion was vs canon. I want to get some canon glass, but right now it is cost prohibitive, because when I do, I am going to invest in the quality canon glass, but to start out, I am going to go with a lower priced tamron or equivelent.
    I am looking at the
    28-80 ($149)
    80-210(169)
    75-300($199)
    What are people's experiences like?
    Thanks.

    I have the 28-75 f/2.8 and it's a great lens.

Also, what kind of pictures do you plan on taking? You have a 28-80 and then an 80-210 listed right afer...and followed by a 75-300?? If you're looking for an everyday lens then that 28-80 would be a better choice unless you know you are going to be needing that telephoto.

I am going to buy 2, I don't know whether I want the 80-210, or the 75- 300, but I am also looking more closely at the canon usm without IS. I plan to take many different kinds of pictures, my wife is looking to break into some light studio photography, and I take photos of just about everything else.

The other issue it, I need to at least go with the XR lenses, those standard tamrons I was looking have none of the XR features.
