I have 2 Sigmas and I love 'em. Never had a Tamron.

The only Tamron I have is the 90mm, and it might just be the best lens I have.

Generally speaking, the Nikon lenses will be of higher quality and have more consistent quality control. There of course are some exceptions, there are several great lenses from Sigma and Tamron. Sometimes it can be tough to get a good sample with them though.

not sure compared to canon lenses, but it seems that sigma and tamron lenses are generally slower in AF than the newer nikon lenses (eg nikon 105vrII vs. sigma 105 vs. tamron 90 vs. tokina 100). :dunno:
