some people report t-tops leaking water, engine latch sticky, red ones have oxidized paint, fading "pink" spoiler, too stiff of a swaybar will rip the mount off of the strut housing, slow power windows, fading rubber trim under window, sticky tachometer, facing ac button, seatbelts retract very slowly

I've seen it in action. Its deadly quick if you're not sure how to handle it. Keep in mind the suspension can be modified to alleviate it.

Actually I have a 91T, with tokico shocks, eibach sportline springs, other suspension stuff, but I have never snap oversteered. I have had experiences where the rear starts to slip and the car slides into the turn, and once where I went into a turn WAY too fast, lost the rear, countersteered a few times after fishtailing, and made it through alive

I'd try to get some track time or autox practice with the car to see how the oversteer is

Not bad. The mr2 can be noisy but that turbo spooling behind you is nice. I need to get my firewall dynamatt to kill some of that noise. Oh yea, and snap oversteer isn't all that bad. Only time I had the rear kick out was when I was pushing it to the limits or trying to lose a little traction. Besides that drive it normally and wont even be a big deal. Does it snow/rain where you live? I prefer not to drive my car when its raining pretty bad, but when its wet outside you just have to take it easy.

He bought the car with a few mods. This was one of them. The car was bought with the purpose of a 5SFE to 3SGTE motor swap. So...no ricer...this is my friend here, if he was that, I'd have executed him by now.

edit: he has an is300 that he'd rather be working on than his mr2 so he's getting rid of it

I've been in a 91 T with exhaust and it is library quiet compared to my NA with exhaust RX-7 I loved the sound that particular MR2 had.

Im thinking about an mr2, but I get the feeling that they are getting too old and I would be better off with a late s14 or spending the extra and getting an s15 (im in aus).

    I have a 91T.

    - T-tops and window seals leak
    - Stock headgaskets tend to go after 120k or so miles
    - On higher mileage and dogged cars, the turbo will have leaky seals.

Snap oversteer is not a big problem. The problem spawns from dumbasses who buy the cars and then don't take their time to work their way up and learn the car's nuances properly. Instead, they get overconfident, take a corner too fast, let off the gas and slide ass-out. Then they come on an internet forum and bitch about how the car's snap oversteer made them wreck....

It's a rear-engined, RWD car. Respect it and you will stay safe.
