how do i go about getting one? what can i buy with one? (suppressors, full auto guns, RPG's?)
ATF. Cool stuff. Yes. Yes. And I think so.
i always thought you had to have a class 3 license to own full auto/3 shot burst weapons. am i wrong?
i hope i am...
You only need a license if you're dealing in the items.
To own them all you have to do is fill out 2 Form 4, get a CLEO signature, fingerprints, 2 passport photos, and mail in a $200 check with teh forms and wait approval.
Or you can go the trust or corporation route, just fill out the Form 4s and mail them in with a $200 check.
Or you can Form 1, going through the same processes above, and make anything personally except machine guns.
lil lost, but i think i sorta know what you mean. so every time you buy anything, you have to get a CLEO to sign off and all that and send in a $200 check? i thought it was something you get (like a certificate or card or something) and show a FFL and pay the $200 to them directly.
Every item you buy, you fill out another form 4. Each item gets a $200 tax attached to it.
You pay the ATF for a stamp every time (sometimes $200, sometimes $5, depends on what you are doing/getting)
And yes, you need CLEO sign-off each time if you are doing a transfer as an individual vs doing it as a Corp / LLC / Trust.
so when you get all the sig's and stuff...and you send it in with your $200 check, is it possible they decline it? if so, do you get your money back?
and finally, where can i get the form 4?
go the trust route, no signatures needed but your own
if you get rejected, you get the $200 back, they only reject for paperwork errors or insufficient documentation
explain how the 'trust' thing works?
how tough is it to get CLEO to sign off?
You can call the NFA branch and have them send you a packet, or you can get them through PDF online.
As for CLEO signatures, they vary. CLEO signatures in my area are easy, others not so much.
where in tx you from? just curious
oh cool, i know where that is. have you gotten anything that needed the stamp? pics?
Go here for your forms:
My brother has been trying to get a CLEO to sign off in NW houston for years. The sheriff just won't do it. Does anyone have an experience with NFA weapons in Houston or San Antonio area
details on setting up a trust etc. ?
M60, MP40, MG42, M79, and a few silencers.
MP40 is at one dealers who is out of town, no good pics. MG42 arrived at other dealers today, but havent taken pics off my camera to computer yet. Will probably be approved come September. Will post them up later.
Form 1 for M79 hasnt been approved yet, so it's still is various pieces etc.

I'm sure it's more than 50k
