I'm very tempted to pick up the MP9 full size. Is all the hype out there about this pistol just hype? I'd like to hear both positive and negative input from owners/users of this weapon.

At least you're not lusting over the Sigma. S&W can barely give those away.

I just picked mine up Monday (.40 fullsize). Range has been closed, so I'll be putting some rounds through it today, and I can't wait. So far it seems like a well-built pistol, and it fits my hand perfectly.
Plus, I got the $50 rebate and 2 free mags :)

The local department is issued the same one. I found out after he gave me a speeding ticket last week.

    Why not?

I have a void in my Poly/Striker fire arnsenal in .45 and I've been considering the M&P or another XD in Tactical.

Although I have several Glocks I'll have a less biased opinion at least when I own all 3.

Well if all the numbers pan out I'll be picking up a full size MP9 before the end of the month. Smith and Wesson is making it far too tempting. Stupid rebates and free mags.

Yeah, those pesky "nice" things to keep you coming back. Damn them.

Oh, and nice firearms as well. :)

Buy it, then I'll tell you how crappy it is and offer to take it off your hands. As long as you're paying the shipping.

I have the Fullsize 9, my best friend has the fullsize 9, and my boss got the compact 9 after checking out both of ours. None of us have had any problems what so ever. Boss also has a XD Tactical and leaves that at home as the bedroom storage defense gun.

There's really nothing to talk you out of on it, pretty much all the little bugs ect that you can dig up were early on and are worked out, and even if for some odd reason you have an issue S&W Customer Support > everybody else.

No. But there are ways you can do this yourself.
    Check out the M&P forums.

Pretty simple stuff, did it to my Glock 40. Looks good, but the caveat is it's more prone to rust.

    They only come in black.

You can use Vinegar to remove the black which takes about 30mins. or you can send it to somebody such as Dan Burwell.

    Here's some of his work..

you must of used the wrong kind or did it wrong.. It's white vinegar and soak for 30min than rub off with fingers and use metal polish to achieve desired shine (some use metal polish w/ a dremel.

Yeah I did it exactly how everyone said to do it. I left the barrel in white vinegar for like 2 hrs, 5 or 6 times.
So what is that, like 10 hrs of soaking in vinegar? Nuthin.
Everyone kept saying after like 20-30 mins in the vinegar, the bluing would just melt off like warm butter. YEAH RIGHT.:rofl::rofl:
My coating didn't budge. At all. I even used 3 different brands of vinegar.

My wife must think I'm crazy. I went through like 3 containers of vinegar just trying to polish one barrel. Lulz.
She must be thinking, "Damn, that's a lot of vinegar gone to waste."

Maybe it wasn't the right kind or dilution. I can't find the damn original thread from sig forum but I THINK it's like 20%

I didn't do it on mine, but I think it looks awesome on the barrel like that.

Yeah, I think it looks nice too, that's why I wanted to do it.

Well, let me know if you find the link, or the correct dilution, so I can try again.
I didn't dilute it with anything, since I never even heard of that. So I guess that's why it didn't work. I didn't know I was supposed to dilute it... no one on the MP forum ever mentioned that. They just said, and I paraphrase/quote, "Just drop the barrel in vinegar for 20-30 mins and wipe off the coating, no biggie, its that easy. It'll come off like warm butter." And thats it. Yeah ok.
