A&P taking pictures of something moving??

    im trying to get good pics of my dog running.. i tried stepping up the iso, but then there is alot of noise.. is it basically the limit of my camera? (d40) or is it possible to get good pics of something in fast motion??

    You need more light and a faster shutter speed.

    You cant help motion blur if the lighting is too dim for you to use a faster shutter speed. Maybe get a nice low light prime lens, like a 50 1.4 or 1.8 or whatever..

    It is a lot cheaper to wait for a sunny day, though.

    I've found shooting subjects that are coming at you are hard to get in focus. Anyone have any tips?

    Nikon AF-S Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G DX Lens



    Cause the 50mm AF-S is really expensive.. and yea, i need a sunny day to play around too..

    Here's your biggest problem with getting sharp pics of moving subjects. This is your EXIF data.

    Use a faster shutter speed. You should be able to up your ISO to 800 which will give you a working shutter speed in this case of 1/320 sec. Also, your focus appears to be off a bit but it's hard to tell since the whole pic suffers from lack of sharpness due to the slow shutter speed.

    If your camera doesn't have focusing tracking ability then the best bet is to pre-focus on a spot and snap the pic just as the subject reaches that spot.
