Will this hurt muscle gains?
Yeah Advil has catabolic effect on muscle tissue you should avoid it if at all possible.
Does all pain releivers have this effect on muscle?
All over the counters that I know of do.
pop an oxy and get swoll
Should not take pain relievers before working out. You could lower your pain tolerence and you might not realise your hurting yourself. I think.
They're fine, how else do you think all those Animal Pak mother fuckers grow new limbs and break existing ones while lifting, they have to have SOMETHING to dull the pain!
What about taking a pain releiver the day after you work out?
I've taken a shitload of Tylenol 3's today and I still worked out and didnt die
There is some research out there that anti-inflammatories reduce muscle gains, since you do break down the muscle while working out to an extent and NSAIDS would put a halt to the "inflammation" afterwards. I don't worry so much about that; but taking any sort of pain reliever before working out is a horribly bad idea; if you're on the edge of an injury and you mask the pain you're setting yourself up for an even worse injury.
What about taking an oxy after working out? Will that hurt muscle gains?
