The competitive eater guy. How the does he stay so lean? Watching MTV's true life: I'm a competitive eater, showed him doing rack pulls of what looked like ~700lbs and benching ~365. But eatng as much as he eats you would think he wouldn't be as lean as he is. Any idea as to how he keeps the weight off?

I saw that MTV show a couple weeks ago. I was amazed at the amount of food he puts down while preping for an event. Like when he's at that restaurant and they keep bringing him plates and plates of noodle type meals and that spicey ice bowl thing. Then he goes to the gym on another day and tears it up.

Kobayashi has a condition called gastroptosis, an abnormal downward displacement of the stomach. It plays a role in his eating ability because his stomach is able to expand below the rib cage unlike most people, allowing him to take in large portions of food.

Yeah he shows how he can move his stomach in the show. It's pretty fucking freaky to watch, even from an external view.

I think someone posted an article about him a year ago and where he talked about his eating habits in the off-season...

I really don't remember the details, I just remember that he does some extreme ass shit like fasting and then eating retarded amounts of vegetables to expand his stomach for the time preceeding a competition, and other times living totally off hot dogs .

    Very impressive dude.

You guys have to figure that he didn't get swole until about 2 years ago and for many years before that he was still the # 1 competitive eater and at the time was skinny as fuck... probably weighed about 135lbs and never touched a weight in his life.

Then he got smart, and realized that more muscle = more calories used to maintain it = more food can be consumed. So he started lifting and calculating his diet so that he ate certain foods at certain times to help his muscle gain progress. So he was eating a shit load and was a twig. Then, he started lifting his ass off, while still eating a shit load = not getting fat, but putting on muscle. He also stated his father has a similar condition as him, so it is also genetic.

And as far as him being that strong..... Currently he is ~ 190lbs at only 5' 6"/5' 7" and under 10% bodyfat. That means a lot of muscle... and with the amount food he eats, his muscles are always well fed. This equates to him being ripped and strong as hell.
He has basically put on 60lbs of 100% pure muscle in ~ 2 years.

I'd say yes to that as well. :dunno: Just because he should be able to pull 700 from the floor doesn't mean he can. I know a lot of bigger guys who have trouble pulling from the floor due to form or just inability to move the weight the first 6 inches off the ground. :dunno:

EDIT: For me it's the other way around. I have a tough time with lockout. I've failed on 375 because I just couldn't lock it out, but it came off the floor like a champ.
