What is the most stable convertible tablet on the market right now, and is the lack of a built-in DVD drive that big of an inconvenience?

I have a Fujitsu Lifebook. I love it. The lack of DVD doesn't bother me because I only have the laptop for school. If I want to watch DVDs, i'll watch them on my TV or desktop.

Ooh, I've been looking at Fujitsu lately. Which LifeBook do you have? Do you ever play games on it? Don't you need the CD drive then?

I have the T2010D. I never play games on it. I do some web developing on it. I have an external cd drive for when i need to install progs.

IIRC, the newer fujitsu tablets have internal cd roms.

The T4020 convertible has a built-in CDRW and maybe one of the slate tablets does too. What I'm really trying to decide is whether the extra functionality is worth the weight. If it isn't, I might as well get the tiny little P1500. (sigh) Either way I'm gonna drop 2 large on one of the damn things.

to tell you the truth, I barely use the pen unless i'm drawing a chart or something while i'm taking notes. Other than that, it's a great ice breaker in class. Girls tend to like to doodle on it. ;)

I wish tablets had been around when I was in college.

No, never mind. There was only one girl in all of my programming/software engineering classes, and I'd already dated her the first semester I was there. I guess it wouldn't have done me any good.
