I assume there must be at least a few of you that are System Administrators, so I was curious to know what you would say the expected salary would be for someone with 3-4 years experience with systems administration, active driectory, ms server, some experience with MySql, Coldfusion, and a few other ins and outs and also with a security clearance...?

    :dunno:

I've seen some that have some serious pay to those with certs, more experience, and the unix knowledge but it seems to vary greatly.

    Any input is appreciated.

Depends on the area and market, I've seen as low 30's and as high as 85k.

Actual experience is a huge plus, make sure if you're looking that that's highlighted on your resume.

    depends on the location.

for the skills listed i would say 50k around here. the only thing marketable that I see is the security clearance, depending on what level that is....

That is the only thing I wasn't sure about and appreciate your input.

It seems like a large portion of these seem to be in the beltway area.

    So many variables

What city are you looking for a job in?

Having a security clearance is a huge help...sys admin jobs with general dynamics, CSC, and other companys they have large government contracts pay well.

I do everything. Biggest part of it is Windows. I manage a small business that deals in IT support. Commercial and Residential. Home user stuff is easy but commercial people :ugh: Illiterate users cannot bridge the verbal gap when it comes to the tech stuff so I never know what I'm getting into. So its :hs: but I like it. Just the pay sucks right now, not enough business to pay me more. So I see all sorts of stuff; windows, novell, unix, as400, thinclients, mac, etc etc which is why it is interesting.

ugh, there were no linux/unix type jobs within the area? 30k is horrible, unless it's just for the interim

<- 80k/yr with a TS/SCI, in Baltimore area doing Sys Admin with a gov't contractor.

Plenty of jobs out here if you're willing to move.

I'd love to get something like that eventually.

I'm happy as federal GS-2210-11 for now.
