I have my documents(resumes, word docs etc) on both my external and on the macbook. is there a way to sync both folders so that when I make changes to one of the files, it automatically copies the new version to the other drive?

actually, it's just the sync part of the automator.. what would I need to add to make it work?

add the two folders you want to sync before it.

likely 'get selected folders' - but give it a try.. in automator you can test run scripts...

alright, I got it, I could just drag the folders in the automator window. but now, how do I save it. do I save it as plugin, plugin for finder, plugin for folder actions?

it works I guess but I get a msg saying: Sorry two folders are required for backup. The first and second items of the batch you specified will be used. then I can click ok or cancel

Is there a way to make automator scripts run... automatically? Rather than having to manually start them from the finder? Because to me, that's what "automation" implies.

    lol... zilla?

for example, could I make an automator script that would sync folders upon detection of a particular USB hard drive being plugged in?

or connect to my shared folders on a windows network whenever I connect to my home wireless?

I haven't seen anything like this yet, but it would make my life a lot easier.

I've made several automator scripts that work just fine when I manually activate them, but making them activate automatically = teh confusion.
