Currently, I have a Nikon CP 5700. It's a great camera, but I can't help wanting something a little more advanced. I hate the camera's autofocus in low light, and the long lag time when taking pictures.

I'd like to stick with Nikon for a brand, what would be a good DSLR to go with? I am quite firmiliar with all of the settings of the 5700, so I'm not a complete newb, and I don't want anything that will break the bank either.

What would be a good Nikon DSLR to go with? D70?

How much do you think I could get for my Nikon CP 5700? It's less than a year old, and still in perfect condition....

you can already get a 16mp canon and the next will be 22. Nikon has 12mp out and kodak has 14.

Pixels won't do much for you unless you're planning on makeing a career out of it. 6mp is more than enough to make a nice 11x14. I make 13x19's with my 10D and they look great.

The replacement for the D100 should be soon, at this point probably announced in september (though delivery won't be till next sprign at the earliest :noes: :ugh2: )

Megapixels aren't everything. . . Keep in mind the D2H/s are still 4.1mp. :hsugh:

Every new camera will have new technology. Look at the 1DsMarkII compared to the D30. Canon has made some incredible advancements in 4 years, but with that said, the D30 is still widely used as a backup or for people that don't need the fastest speed or the highest resolution

I'm just having a bit of a hard time to justify the cost to myself. I can't seem to find it for any less the $1400 CAN....and I'd only get like $600 at most for my 5700.

Well, the price is up there. I was originally saving for a paintball gun and had no interest inthe camera. But as I saved, they kept pushing the release date back and back, and I had about 700 dollars in the end. So I said fuck it, I'd rather have a camera anyway, and I can afford it now. I whored out my christmas for the year along with my 700, and the total came to $1,162 with no lens and a lexar 80x 1 gig cf card. The kit lens will pwn, but I couldn't afford it :( Good luck man, JOIN US

yeah i like the 300d...its different though because its more of a basic camera than the 5700...no sharpening options and such

Grr, the 20d wasn't meant to be a competitor with the d70, it was supposed to gun for the d100. Since nobody ever mentions them in the same breath, I assume it failed. Canon = teh suxx0r :coold:

Just fuckin with ya... don't beat me with the white lenses :p Anyway, If you're really awnting a battery grip (please... you DON'T need it IMO, though a vertical shutter release would be cool I never seem to NEED it, and the battery life owns) get a canon. There isn't and won't be a d70 vertical grip :( Mean people, how dare they deprive us?! In my opinion... skip the grip and get an f4 or f2.8 telephoto with that kit lens. Sure, that's bad for your price... but do you know how cool it is?! :noes:

I've got the Digital Rebel 300d but I didn't get the kit lenses. I have a Sigma 28-80mm F3.5-5.6 II Aspherical, Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 Super macro II. I was gonna go with Nikon D70 but liked the feel of this one better. Next to buy is the battery grip which I want and a 580ex flash.
