Swimming v. gaining mass

    Right now I've just come to college and I'm amazed at how gross the uni gym is. The equipment is great, but the amount of males that are there is just gross. There are like 1 female to every 6 males, which doesnt bother me, but what does is the amount of strick upper body lifts that are done. The females all hog the cardios. And then you have the occasional bitch that just oggles some male benching some weight. I've come to the conclusion that at least until I find the time when that place isn't loaded with so many damn people I will swim. This will also help my tan. Either way I'm wondering what are some excersizes you can do while swimming. IE if I'm trying to gain weight should'nt I be doing sprints then rest then sprint as opposed to your more cardio and 40 min swim? What types of strokes should I focus on to hit all my muscle groups? This is kind of a rant, but if you can ignore that section and focus on the swimming part that would be great.

    quit bein a bitch and get into the gym and smash weights. your diet will dictate gains - eat more if you want to put on size. save the pool for cardio and recovery


    read the stickies and archives if you need any other information. chances are, its there.

    IE either early morning 'cause nobody gets up early or rearrange your schedule to allow for a 2hr block open during the early part of the day....

    word, go at a time when it isn't as crowded...and ill tell you right now, if you are going to the gym more concerned about what other people are doing and how many chicks there are, it's gonna be really tough to achieve your weight/strength gains, block that shit out and hit the iron like you're the only one there

    and yes, long cardio sessions will not help you gain weight, neither will wind sprints though cause they burn so many calories

    Go in 5 minutes after it opens in the morning.

    Free squat rack + all the free plates I need. Doesn't get any better.



    And for the record, I'd rather go to a place where there are no girls at all. They're distractions. Last thing I need to see before I pull a shitlot of weight off the floor is some skanky bitch in booty shorts and a sports bra walking by.

    Although swimming might aid your back and shoulder development, the ammount of calories you brun will probably prevent you from gaining weight. More calories burned = the more food you have to eat to get over mantainence.

    You will never get bigger by swimming unless you've never lifted a weight in your life.

    I guess Ill just wake up early and hit it then if that is what it's gonna take. I guess I was spoiled at my old place being empty when I hit it.

    seriously they are a complete distraction and I dont know how the other guys pull it off, but thats there deal.

    if your that climbing faggot that posted your pic and you weigh in at 97 lbs or w.e. gj, but you honestly don't belong in my thread.

    i echo all the people saying to go in the morning. the gym will never ever be mroe than half full before 10 am. it's a good habit to start when your a 1st year.

    slo of coruse aka the better one. But ya thanks for the advice. Whats the best way to get your heart up before lifiting. Just run a mile or two to get it pumping and your mind awake? I normally goto the gym when I'm fully awake so this will be a change.

    i dont actually prepare. i go to the gym in a zombie like state. it's kinda cool, while all the guys here are complaning about squats hurting and stuff, i'm just kinda there not feeling anything. i do wake up near the end though

    Everybody is different. I fucking lost 9 pounds in 6 days from swimming. I cant get away with that shit because Im already too fucking small to begin with.
