I work at a computer recycling company, and tomorrow we're getting a shipment of 11 G5 PowerMacs, 6 G4 PowerBooks, 20 G4 PowerMacs, and about 40 17" Cinema Displays. Luckily, I think I'll be taking home a Dual 1.8 Ghz G5 with 3 GB RAM and one of the displays. Maybe I can grab a G4 PowerBook too. :x: I love this job

god i am jealous. It's a hobby of mine to get old macs running with period software. Send me some extras :x: Or at least get some to make an Xgrid cluster out of.

edit: I mean SERIOUSLY I am exceptionally jealous right now. I WISH I had a G5.

If I could get a bunch of them, I definitely would, but I'm happy they are even giving me one. Although, I might consider dual monitors. The company I work for will want me to test them to quickly turn them around and sell them. I definitely won't be able to sell a G4 PowerBook (1.5 Ghz, I think it's 15" and 1 GB RAM) for a couple hundred. I recently got a G4 Dual 1.42 with 2 GB RAM and a 15" Cinema display from them, and now I'll be getting this. They give me stuff all the time so I can "familiarize" myself with it for when I'm testing them. Some times I just grab stuff and walk out with it lol.

I'll find out prices once we get them in. The truck comes in at around 4, and we close at 5, so I won't really be able to get to them until Monday. I'll find out prices, though and let people know how much for it, and for shipping.

It's a local Computer Recycling company. Originally we were going to get all of this stuff for free, but then they decided to take bids from surrounding computer recycling companies, so we offered ~$6k for the whole lot and won it.

it's probably the old translucent 17" 4:3 displays, just fyi. they didn't have a very good refresh rate, probably 20ms.

Yes they are. I don't believe the newer style ever had a 17" model.

Will do. What would your budget be for one? I'll see if I can talk to my boss about it. No guarantees, but I'll try.

Not much unfortunately as I'm stretched pretty thin. Let me know what he'd let it go for.
