swearing into the NY national guard this thursday. MOS choices were 1)92A 2)63B 3)44B
    in an aviation unit

had to pick some crappy MOS because I am unable to obtain a secret clearance at recruitment level. once I'm at my unit I am praying I can speak with my CoC and get an OK to reclass into something better more career path oriented.

welcome to the military, Oorah..i mean Hooah :mamoru:

srsly tho, id be careful with that. most often than not, once youve been trained for an MOS, you're stuck until you decide to re-enlist. They're not going to want to spend the money for training on someone they've already trained in a certain MOS if there's a reasonable need for you at your unit.

i know this. its only a small glimmer of hope. i'm content with 63b but it is at an aviation support battalion which MIGHT make my chances at getting 15t a little better. all i can do is cross my fingers at this point.

The Army is not going to enlist you, train you for a certain job, send you back to your unit, just to turn around and retrain you. I do not know who fed you that BS, or if you are just hoping, but it is not going to happen!

Especially since you are just going to be another NG guy. If you stayed in long enough, made E-5, and then wanted to do AGR, then you would have some options.

Shit, the only time you really have options ever is when you are in your re-enlistment windows, then they will let you nut all over their face to keep you in.

anything mechanic is FAIL by the way...

92A is not too bad if you do not mind pounding a keyboard all day.

i prefer pounding a hammer or wrench than being a supply guy making sure everyone has uniforms. besides its only 3 days a month. my unit is deploying for 15 months in june i will be in basic/ait while they are gone.

92A is not supply, 92Y is.

Alphas are involved in maintenance, such as ordering parts, tracking the status of vehicles, and sending up important reports.

Yankees maintain the books, issue pens, take care of the commanders hand receipts, and are usually loved by everyone.

You say now that you would rather turn a wrench, but later you will change your tune :mamoru:

:ugh: Um, the other part of the MOS is warehouse and supply. It all depends on what class of items that need to be ordered. Did it for the first 10 years of my Army career. Not a bad MOS at all.

And as far as the reclass goes, you should be able to reclass into another slot in your unit. The unit itself does not pay for the school, it comes from higher up. It works this way in the reserves, but I am not sure how NG works.
