Anyone watch the video when he is Dog sledding across a lake? Fantastic idea drilling out the stock of his rifle to fill with survival items

i meant butt, sorry :o long night. basically, he drilled holes in the butt and filled them with survival supplies like extra ammo, gauze, flint strike, etc

Kind of like a henry survival rifle...hollowed out enlarged butt, the rifle collapsed plus survival gear can fit in there.

Kind of like that, only Les' .22 didn't look like shit. :mamoru:

Because it's always important to look cool while you're surviving:o

Great idea. I shut off that episode when I saw him kick the dogs though.

it didn't look out of line to me - he didn't full-on kick them. More like shoved them out of the way with his boot. I'm not sure I'd stick my hands in a dog-fight either.

I don't remember the severity of it.. but it just struck me the wrong way. I was never a fan of his show to begin with.. so that was the final straw I guess.

I don't care if Bear Grylls was a fraud, his show was very entertaining. :hsd:

The thing to remember about dog sledding is that the dogs they use aren't pets, they really are just draft/pack animals :dunno:

And like he said, if they kill or injure each other you're a long way from home with no ride.

iirc, he was kicking the dog so they would stop fighting. those dogs would kill eachother before he would kill one of them.

:werd: I always laugh when he starts talking about how he hates to kill any living creature just as he chows down on something like a snail. Who the fuck cares about a snail?

That guy puts in soooooo much effort for the littlest of results.

    Still entertaining though.

you have to be a bit rougher on them than you would with a standard domesticated house dog in a fight, i remember in the top gear north pole episode the lady that ran the dogs had to jump in and beat the crap out of one dog that kept fighting

Sled dogs are bread to survive in one of the harshest places on earth, they fight for scraps to the death if you fed them together. I do not think that a little kick from a muckluck is going to affect them in the slighest way.
