anyone seen this yet? i'm on the fence about it. love romero movies... but land of the dead was pretty low on the list of good zombie flicks for me.

you forgot the ''hot little'' part in that sentence

tbh i enjoyed it, only issue i had with it was the irish accent the folk had on the island, and the cpt. awesom dude is the typical lovable rogue u would find around these parts

Romero movies have been going downhill since Land of the Dead. Diary of the Dead sucked pretty bad.

This seems like a sequel to Land of the Dead, where in the end of that movie they began learning and getting smarter and even organizing. Now they'll probably have evolved into smart zombies that don't just eat brains by instinct anymore but actually have to survive and they'll probably be at war with living humans and all sorts of crap. It'll probably be weaksauce, but I'll still see it. I just don't like the whole idea of evolved zombies who became smart and created their own organizational structure.

    Romero's zombies never ate brains.

Learning doesn't change your physiology or the fact that you're dead.

And Romero's zombies have had intelligence, memory, and been learning since the very first movie. It's not unique to Land Of The Dead.

Watched this last night. It was typical Romero zombie stuff. I enjoyed it, but I think a better name would have been, "Hatfields vs. Mccoys vs. Zombies". Enjoyed it more than LOTD though.

I thought it was terrible. It was just too campy and ridiculous for my taste.

You're right, but didn't the zombies start using firearms in Land of the Dead? That was a bit over the top for me :o

Bub (the zombie) used a gun in Day of the Dead (1985)

The first zombie ever put to film picked up a rock to break through Barbara's car window.

Zombie Flyboy knew where the false wall was, and that the people were hiding behind it.

Bub remembered what books, telephones, military insignia, and guns were, and how to use them. And said "Hello aunt Elise".

It's not a big jump to what happened in Land of the Dead.

I think it's the worst of Romero's zombie movies, but nowhere near as bad as everybody makes it out to be.

I like it too. When I say it's his worst one, I don't mean it's bad. Just that Night, Dawn, Day, Diary, and Survival are all better.

The best thing about Land was John Leguizamo.

    Oh, and Asia Argento. :naughty:

Not the modern type of zombies. We're not talking about voodoo slaves. :mamoru:

All of the Romero movies I've seen are like that. It's been forever since I've seen Night and Day of the Dead but I recently watched Dawn of the Dead again and I couldn't help but start cracking up when I saw the zombies. They were all so white that it looked as though they got smacked with a bunch of flour. If you'd put a red nose on them and smudge the blood around their mouths they'd all look like retarded clowns.

The best part is that all of the previous times I've seen it I didn't remember it being that cheesy, but I definately remember more realistic looking zombies in Day of the Dead and not just a bunch of people that had their face painted white and decorated with a halloween vampire kit, but it's been years since I've seen it so I might be wrong.
