So, I had two adult teeth that just never came in. It's pretty common actually. So, I'm in the process of getting implants. I had the first surgery almost a year ago where they drill a hole into the spaces and put a metal post in and then cover the gums back up and let it all heal. Then, a while later, after the metal is secure, the uncover the post they put in at first then put in the screws. In about a week, I will go and get a mold of my teeth and it will be sent off to a lab where they will make the fake teeth. Then I get them 2 weeks later and I'm finally all set!

    Kinda gross though.

    pics of face just because?

i think that looks pretty cool, and unfortunately, I may have to have a tooth or two pulled and have something similar put in if they're not correctable by braces :hs:

I had to have braces twice for them... :ugh:

But it will be worth it in the end, I think.

I've had twelve teeth pulled, myself. Four at a time. Granted, one session was baby teeth, but they still had their roots on them. The most recent session was to get my wisdom teeth out; not only did they have to saw them in half to remove them, they also splintered the jawbone on one when they pulled the pieces out. Jagged edges + thin covering of gum = discomfort to this day. Anethesia doesn't bother me anymore. I know as soon as the dope hits my heart I'll calm right down. It's like magic.

Wow. That's a lot of teeth. I wouldn't know about anethesia though, because I was awake during the surgery :noes:. The worse part was knowing what they were doing and hearing everything. For example, since the gum is empty where the teeth are missing, the first thing the doctor did was use some kind of tool and pushed up into my gum. The sound was probably the most disgusting thing I've ever heard. Then the sawing was terrible as well because I knew they were drilling into my mouth. EHhh.

Really? I actually try to pay close attention to what their doing. I like knowing what it is their doing and how they go about it. I love learning things that I'll never have a use for.

And yet you chose to be awake and aware instead of being asleep and oblivious. My experience is that the best way to avoid being afraid of what they're going to be doing to your mouth in your sleep is to talk to the doctor about whatever you feel like, including what they're going to do if you really want to know, until the dope kicks in and you pass out. Knowing what you do now, would you stay awake next time?
