Surely there has to be a faster ripper than handbrake

    its taking a hour to rip one episode of scrubs. ive got it on a 500kbps rate and the size is 320x240. is there anything faster that will rip it to .mp4 so i can convert it for my ipod

    it rips to .vob then i have to spend the same amount of time to convert it to .mp4 so i can put it on my ipod

    instant handbrake isn't quicker but its easier. I really don't think there is anything quicker

    Is there a program like dvdshrink for os x that directly rips, compresses, and burns dvds? Looks like mac the ripper just directly rips movies, no compression.

    I'm new to OS X, mind pointing me in the direction of which programs to use?

    mactheripper rips DVDs to your hard drive
    dvd2onex or popcorn or (i think) toast are some of the better options for compressing the rip and burning the result to DVD

    I use popcorn and like it a lot for compression etc. It will rip stuff directly to the ipod
