it's not impressive. it's really long, pretty thick, pretty damn heavy, and offers less reduction in sound than other suppressors that have it beat in the other categories also. AAC and gemtech both offer a 5.56 suppressor that has quick-attach and better suppression, better ability to stand up to fully automatic fire (knight's is even better for this, if i remember right. i think it'll work okay with a SAW), and they're much more proven and you don't have to deal with surefire.

surefire is screwing its dealers and its customers starting jan. 1, 2004. it's making it so that there's NO wholesale pricebreak. it's MSRP or nothing. and it's also not letting its dealers sell online. so, now they have a virtual monopoly on their shit, and they can charge whatever for it. i'm jumping in there and getting my M962SU from brightflashlights on arfcom now, and avoiding the whole shiznit.

    I'm a Gemtech fan :bigthumb:

I'm about to start the process of sending in my paperwork to the BATF for a Gemtech for my M4 project.

There are many suppressors out there, you just have to do some research to find one that is right for you and your application.

yeah, gemtech, AAC, and knight's are the three majors. there are a lot of others coming into light now, because the military has lowered its requirements for supression. that makes way for smaller, lighter suppressors. and when the military starts using them, they'll catch on with civilians.

i'm an AAC fan, because they're a hometown company, and i've seen firsthand how well they work, and i've met the owner of the company. if you look closely in tears of the sun, you can see a shitload of AAC stuff on their weapons. i've also used a gemtech for a Mk.23, and it was indeed quiet. so, they're both good. knight's is good, but way too overpriced, and i think they're hard to get ahold of anyways.
