i had an argument with my parents about me taking in supplements at such young age (20). i currently take whey protein, bsn no-xplode, fish oil caps, multi-v, and green tea extract and they discourage me to not take these supplements as they "make your liver work harder" and eventually lead on to kidney/liver failure. she told me a story how one of her friends died due to kidney failure of taking supplements but i dont believe it as it could've been many factors.

but can someone clearify about this? i know theres got to be an article floating around here but i cant search:o

Your parents don't know what they are talking about. Those supplements you are taking are fine.

An argument could be made for No-Explode, but opinion may vary. There's some evidence to show that NO supplements can be toxic

    Anyone care to clarify?

your parents are right, to an extent

the more supplements you take, the more chemicals in your blood stream, the harder your liver has to work in order to filter them out

it would be a good idea to not take any unnecessary supplements, (cough no-explode), but from what you've listed it doesn't seem like you're in any danger

the flaw is the assumption that all digested macronutrients are equally toxic to the body.

a cup of orange juice isn't going to be as bad for the liver as a cup of vodka.

the consumption of food is linked to 75 million incidents of illness each year according to the US center for disease control. That's 1 incident for every 4 people every year.

What is the illness rate per year for users of whey?

Shut up, dick. The only supp that we mentioned that he might want to consider getting rid of is the No-Explode. NO2 supps can be toxic, they're a new type of supp that haven't been out long enough for adequate research. I'd stay away.

I think everyone can say....No2 supplementation is pointless and a waste of money, all it does is make you more vascular.

Stop spending the money on No-Xplode...sure your #'s may increase, but its probably psychological
