After doing some research and calling a few tuners (AA, VF, etc), I've found a kit that allows me to get 380 - 400rwhp @ 13 psi, while keeping the stock internals. According to a few tuners, the 2.8 engine is the best engine in the E36/39/46/90/92 to tune compared to the other engine models. The kit is from AA Tuning and will take approximately 2-3 weeks for build time. However, kit is going to cost $11K, EXCLUDING installs. Install will probably be $95/hr for 8-9 hours.

I've found another kit by VF Engineering which puts down 310rwhp for 6K, but I really want more power possible. What do you guys think?

    Dump the 528i and pick up a well maintained 540i. I had a 2000 540i 6-spd that put down 321rwhp with bolt-on n/a mods. :wavey:

I was thinking of doing just that, however the 540i has too too many mechanical problems. Yes, it's a much better car compared to the 528i, w/ respect to power, but according to tuners, the 528i is even better for projects such as these.

Ah, not at all! I traded the 540i on the 06 M3. :wiggle: As far as the 540's go, the only thing you have to keep an eye on is the coolant system. Replace the hoses and end tanks early!

I'm purchasing the kit end of summer from a local tuner here in Atl, GA. Stg 2 w/ different internals with different MAF (mass air flow) going to push almost 500rwhp :bowdown::bowdown:

Dealer offered you 8k for an M5?

Also, AA kits will be expensive no matter what. All their shit (and most other "well-known" BMW tuners) is big money. Go custom for the parts and pay the big tuners to do what they do best...tune
