I'm stupid tempted to buy one of those plum 7.62 variants and a couple cases of Lapua 7.62.

Someone buy my Benelli from me.

    Who made em?

From my limited understanding of AKs, Russian and American made Arsenal AKs are the best, and are supposed to cost around $1K

    I would prefer a 74 model though.

They don't name the manufacturer, and as such i'll just assume that these are the CAI tantals which are junk. My dentist friend bought one on a whim, and the fucker wouldn't even hit paper at 25 yards half the time... the times it managed to get on paper you could see the profile of the bullet, it was keyholing really bad.

But... the ammo on Classic Arms has me tempted.

Buy a Nightforce scope... or a fuggin AK-47 clone?

    LOL!

    NP,

Classic Arm's shit is really hit or miss. The internet theory on the Tantal was that the fuckers used 5.56 barrel dimensions by accident or something.

That was a Green Mountain fuck up, wasn't it?

Yeah, I heard the same story you did..... supposedly it was a 5.56 bore diameter. Did CAI ever make good on those? While their guns are oftentimes shit, I've heard that they will usually take care of you if you call.

K-Var has the best AKs at the best prices now. Arsenal's AKs are a lot nicer than pretty much everything else you can buy or build.

They had a bad batch of barrels that were either the wrong bore size or twist rate, I can't remember which. They fixed the first few rifles that were returned then eventually stopped accepting returns is what I heard last. The ones they are putting out now should be fine but there's no sense in even considering it when you can get a 5.45 Saiga for less.

Well it is a stamped 1mm receiver. If you're use to ARs, yeah it's probably going to feel light and cheap.

I believe they are parkerized. Centerfire has 5.45 Saigas for ~$350 right now, which is probably your best bet. I forgot to mention that in my previous post. Put $100 into that for a stock, pistol grip and trigger guard and you'll have a nice rifle. Spend the rest of the money on cheap ammo and shoot it.
