suggestions on what program to upload analog vid

    have an older sony hi8 that i'd like to burn to dvds. what program/hardware do you recommend?

    I would recommend a stand-alone DVD Recorder. I got my LiteOn at CostCo for $110 :). Truth is that a standalone will give you better video quality that most consumer-grade PCI cards, and is actually faster/easier to transfer analog sources to DVD (and cheaper in many instances).

    so no computer at all eh? just a regular dvd burner? i'll have to look into that. thanks.

    I use my ATI TV wonder PRO, and transfer to the PC as a MPEG-2, edit with videoredo, then I make a fancy little menu TMPgenc DVD Author, finally if it is greater than 4.36gb I run it through DVD Rebuilder, and apply a smoothing filter like fluxsmooth.
