i've narrowed down everything for my new AR build except for a stock. so far, i plan to build it with a CMMG 14.5” M4 A1 SOCOM Upper w/Permanent Phantom 5C1 attached; i'll be going with a magpul maid grip, and an aimpoint COMP ML3 on a cantilever mount. (i'll be building this on a stag15 reciever)

i've narrowed it down to a 6-position, or a CTR. UBRs are rumored to be great, but fuck waiting :mamoru:

6-positions run anywhere from $70 (for a Stag Arms) to $117 (for an LMT).

CTRs are about $90-$95 bucks (from a few different online retailers).

does anyone have experience with both, or one of them and care to share their story? keep in mind that im a first time AR15 builder, if that matters.

i like the classic look of the 6-positions, but if someone convinces me that CTRs are the shit, i might be swayed

I like my Stag 6 position. It's pretty nice.

I've used the standard M4 stock, VLTOR modstock, and recently got a CTR.

All things considered, I think I like the CTR more. It's just more solid.

I love my CTR. What type of shooting will this be for? Tac rifle, bench, SHTF?

    3 votes for CTR
    2 for magpul93b
    1.5 for 6-pos

    :dunno:

edit: after googling the magpul 93b, im ruling that out. it looks ugly :dunno: :barf:

what are the prices on CTRs? the prices in the first post reflect stocks without the buffer or buffer tube.

what would it be for a complete stock set up?

I picked the Vltor over the CRT just for the big triangle look of the CRT I didn't like. Their both proven battle stocks, but Vltor is a solid stock that's just a slight bit smaller and has the storage compartments for spare batteries (or my class III paperwork)

Unless you buy a full stock kit, you'll need to buy a "mil-spec" buffer, spring, and tube. Should have the, er, external keyway for the collapsible stocks to lock into. Avoid the smaller-diameter "commercial" buffers/tubes since there are fewer buttstock options.

Hm, I guess that your question was more or less answered before my post.
