So, back story. 5'8", was ~160... dropped to 140 by backing off the carbs for a couple months. Got down to 140, and started some basic exercise. Doing pullups/chinups (couple different styles) and pushups (inverted) to failure about every 3 days, just at home with a pullup bar. Doing that for about the past month, this is where I'm at now.

That's about 140. Judging from what you can see, will I see the most obvious physical results from working out more, or trying to lose more weight?

Also, I'm just trying to eat more "raw" foods instead of processed stuff, and am going to start taking casein at night whenever the tub gets here. Any other suggestions?

I flipped thru em... my question was more asking for opinions... what people think would make the biggest difference. As I'm sure you know, you can't build and cut at the same time. Do I lose body fat in search of definition at this point, or do I bulk more (lowering body fat % at the same time)

Yea? I've lost 20 lbs but I still feel like I'm "soft" around the middle/chest. I know 5'8" 140 isn't very big, but you think that building will give me more definition?

Not sure what BW means. I'm doing pullups and chinups, with hands at shoulder width, and next to eachother... 4 sets total. Doing each exercise about 5 sec up, 5 sec down... about 8-10 reps. 1 set of each exercise, sets about 3-5 minutes apart. Pushups with feet on a rocking chair... ~3 seconds each up/down, and about 7 or 8 of those.

It completely exhausts my muscles, so I figure it's as much exercise as I could handle anyways? Once I start being able to do those easily 10-12 reps, I'll probably have to start weight training... but I figure that should be sufficient work for now? :dunno:

And I agree that you should focus on building lean mass. Eat cleanly (check the stickies/archives) and begin a weight lifting routine asap.

no offense, but to be brutally honest looks like u got shitty structure, esp. your shoulder girdle. add to that a thick waist, it'll be really hard to offset that through training and manipulating proportion. big hairy nipples doesnt help either

i would try a clean bulk. ur bf is really high even at that relatively light bodyweight. hit the weights

 As much as I appreciate the concern, I'm not really worried about hair on my nipples, but more getting into decent shape. I agree about my body structure, I definitely carry a higher bf% than it looks like, which is why I was thinking about trying to lose more of that... but it sounds like I'm better off spending time building a better base first.

the more muscle mass you have, the easier it's going to be to cut bodyfat... muscle increases metabolism, so it'd be beneficial to put on some muscle right now and then try to cut down

Understand that if you have no muscle development, then your cut won't reveal anything that isn't there.

My prescription is good foods around/above maintenance and a good exercise program. And, oh shit, there's one in the stickies!

    Do it to it, brooooooseph
