Hey, Im looking to buy an AR-15 M4, Im just looking for a good reliable entry level model where I can add a scope and maybe upgrade in the future. Right now all I really know about is Bushmaster and Rock River Arms...Im looking to spend no more than $1000 right now...

Any suggestions and input is appreciated.

PS - For AZ residents, Im 19, that means I can go to a gun store and get a rifle right? Do I need an AZ ID card though?

Bushy, RRA, Stag are all good choices, If you want a scope on whatever your buying now down the road, I'd go with the A4 model and either get a detach carry handle or flip up BUIS for now till you get an optic. Any of the above can be had for under a grand, either locally or online, if you choose online head over to ar15.com equipment exchange.

You will need either an AZ drivers license or AZ ID card to buy from an FFL.

budsgunshop.com has S&W ar15's for around 850 i believe. They seem to be getting really good reviews and most people are already aware all of the parts on that rifle are made by Stag Arms/CMT for smith & wesson.

ive got a stag upper that looks and shoots terrific so i can vouch for the quality.

I also believe you can BUILD a plain-jane ar15 for 700 or under if you wanna take that route. Do a little shopping around to see what kinda parts there are.

these are a couple off the top of my head...

    Rainierarms.com
    Bravocompanyusa.com
    Adcofirearms.com

I built an M4-style for just over 850 with parts from Magpul, VLTOR, Spikes Tactical, Rock River Arms, and Stag/CMT. I slapped an EOtech 512 on it to finish it and it still only came to a lil over 1100 w/ the optics.

Dude, trust me on this. If this is not a 100% business blaster, get the A4 flattop. You'll get bored shooting at closer range with the A2/A3 and will want to put a scope or something on it..and A4 is the only way to go.

I have a SW M&P-15 and it's a good rifle. Most of the real deal guys will agree that it's a great rifle, though most say SW would have hit a homerun with a 1:7 bbl. I hear that you can order a 1:7 if you are LE.

stag uppers can be had for $485 for a flattop with an ARMS 40 rear sight, then a couple hundred for a complete lower. You can have yourself a good basic rifle for around 700.
check out www.ar15.com in the equipment exchange section for a number of sellers.

Thanks, but I do not have the time, experience, or tools to be able to build my own. Id also like to have a warranty with my purchase.

Sw has great service...but to be honest, warranties don't matter that much when I purchase something.

Any AZ residents recommend some shops to look around for an AR?

No, the Stag uppers and lowers are already completed. Just not pinned. To do thius, all you do is place the upper and lower so 2 holes line up, then apply pressure with your hand, and the pins shouls slide in and lock in place. Very simple. Took me all but a half minute

Cool...now the only problem I have is finding Stag upper and lowers locally. I know RRA has some local dealers I can find upper and lowers from them, but Im not too sure about Stag.
