Ok. hi new to OTCC. :wavey:

i know this is going to soound absolutly noob but....

I used to read a lot of xmen back when i was youngin, pretty much quit after the whole universe switch to the age of apoc etcetc just lost interest

picked up interest again a few years back with some random japanese manga, old editions of tank girl tradies etc and now after reading a selection of brian woods stuff (most notably DMZ, supermarket) im looking for something a little similar to that.

ive heard good things about most of the vertigo stuff (Y:tlm, 100bullets etc) but i love the dirty graphic style of dmz ratehr than the slickness of say... AmazSpidey or other S.Hero stuff...

    suggest? thanks otcc!

Question for other OTCC: Would Astro City fit in the style of DMZ? I thought the Midnighter City was the tits and would recommend it to read though I wonder whether it fits the criteria or not.

Y:tlm is awesome, The Walking Dead, Elephantmen, Brit, Invincible, Exterminators, all are excellent indies to start off with.

There's a 3 issue series from Vertigo called WE3 that I would highly recommend; it's like Homeward Bound meets Terminator. It's sweet and gory. Nonetheless, the story is where it's at.

One of my other favorite little stories from Vertigo is The Witching Hour. It's about witches and stuff, however it's pretty cool. I don't know why I found it amazing... perhaps the art? It's also only 3 issues.

These don't exactly meet your desires, but there's no harm in venturing outside comfort, eh?

Oh, and since you've kinda come back since a 10 year hiatus, you might know that comics have changed a lot since then. However, comics are like soap operas, and to understand what's happening now, you need to know the past, and to know the past, you need to know the history. So if you're ready for that homework, let us know and we'll line you up good.

I'd say the best of the suggested are TWD and Powers v2. I still say to read WE3 though; it's a nice 3 issue mini.
