How practical? A 350Z or lightly used S2k or Z4 will come in below 30. Otherwise there's the IS (new or old), G35, and E46 3 series.

Used 350Z track model. I got mine for 24k OTD with 19k miles on it. You can find decent deals like that, likely even a few better ones.
You can get lesser models for sub 30k new.
    S2Ks too, used.
Saturn Sky or the Pontiac Solstice is nice.
IS300 used isn't a bad car if don't mind the 4 doors (or if you want them)
G35 coupe is nice too. New will be a little out of your price range but used you can get em for 30k
IS250/350 as well... not sure how much they are tho.
You can also look at used GTOs. LS1 GTOs with under 25k miles are going for less than 20k used. LS2 GTOs are going for about 3-4k more.

So you've driven a Sky, and all the other cars mentioned to make this assumption, yes?

Mazda MX-5 (formerly known as the Miata, much better car after the redesign in 2006)

Toyota MR-2 (been around forever, great little midengine car, shitty cargo space)

how about a magnum or charger or 300? Ample amounts of room, RWD, massive power. it dosent get more practical than that.

I just drove a new mx5 the other day. Very nice car, though you can feel the extra weight. I liked it, spot on steering, responsive throttle and the rear end is easily coaxed out.
For the money I'd get an S2000, any newer one with the 2.2 in it. The chassis is unreal and the motor loves to rev out and the handling is stellar, you can't go wrong with it. Plus Honda reliability.

The Magnum has Mercedes suspension. Hemi + handling = sex.

I won't dispute Honda reliability, but Mazda offers better value for the money. I guarantee that S2000 comes with no features at the MX-5's price point -- if you can even get one at the MX-5's price point.

Did I mention the MX-5 has an all-red gauge cluster and central console, with white gauge needles? It's a striking color scheme (and quite European) compared to what most Japs come with.

A Mazda RX-8? It is practical with its 4 seats, is insured cheaper as a 4 door, has decent power, RWD, and handles like a dream. The only thing is the gas mileage. I have one and I love it. :dunno: Some people are getting some brand new for 24,000 OTD.

Unfortunately, while I love the Renesis motor, almost all of them have been recalled for oil leak problems.

do you realize how retarded and stupid you are for saying that?

    HEMI + anything = :ugh:

Do you know what hemi is? or the fact that all engines have HEMI in them :eek3: :greddy:

Oh wait, you must be one of them who fell for their great marketing strategy lol.

    HEMI. WTF is hemi???

Except for the whole "practical" thing... I mean, it has a trunk big enough to fit a bag of dirty laundry, if it's only one load and you squish it down a bit.

HEMI is an engine design that uses a hemispherical cylinder head instead of the normal "pentroof" design. It's harder to use multiple valves on a HEMI cylinder head because, unlike the pentroof design there is no flat surface for the valves to seal against without having to be splayed out at different angles compared to each other (in other words, the intake valves for each cylinder can't sit parallel to each other like normal), but the hemispherical cylinder head focuses the pressure wave from the combustion much more precisely onto the center of the piston face. When HEMI was first introduced in NASCAR, it was banned in short order because it was so effective.

    Bitch.
