I usually say Canon but the Sonys produce excellent pictures as far as point and shoot.

I got a pretty sweet Panasonic Lumix LZ series camera. Mine is a year or two old so it won't be a current model number though. Its 5mp, 6x optical zoom, 3x digital zoom. Image stabilazation built in. It has a ton of features for a relatively small price tag. Wanna say I paid about 215 for it maybe. The 6x optical zoom really sold me. If you know a little about cameras, then you know what I'm talking about, but if you don't know anything about cameras then here ya go. Optical zoom is the telescoptic zoom on how many times you can zoom in without suffering quality. The digital zoom just gets closer from the picutre you already took and suffers quality everytime you get closer. I planned on using my camera to take some distant shots. 6x doesn't get you up close and detailed on too far of stuff, but for the price and the features, thsi camera is great. Does well on batteries too, it uses AA batteries.
