When you submit for leave how far ahead of your dates do you try and submit for?

I am about to try and submit for 10 days in May, but the block leave period is only in April so I imagine that are going to be a pain in my ass and probably reject it. I just think its bullshit to only have 3 weeks to choose from especially when I will deploying again in August.

Putting the request in now shouldn’t be out of line should it?
    :dunno:

i always talk with the approving official before submitting leave. if it's going to get turned down i dont even waste my time. i try to forecast leave as far ahead as possible.

if the approving official has some sort of spread sheet that tracks leave that far out, i would just get on that and submit about 2 weeks out.

agreed, its the biggest thing i dislike about this command, same goes for any request chit, we are told not to fill out the 'date submitted' block so that they can fill it in themselves when they finally get it done 2 weeks later...its totally against every 'regulation' but there is nothing the 300 enlisteds can do about it vs the 35 chiefs and 30 officers... :wtc:

    Bad sq policy.
Normal leave should not be scheduled out further than 2 weeks. It really shouldn't be a sq policy, more of a work center policy.

Rise up and challenge the authority of your superiors. See how quickly your dick gets smacked into the dirt.

I dont see why there could be a "too early" possibility at all. Isn't the earlier the better?

We have a rule in my unit. Leave must be in before the 15th a month prior.

So lets say you want to take leave, March 20th. Leave needs to be submitted BEFORE february 15th....what pisses me off, is they tell us not to by a plane ticket until its approved, but there have been NUMEROUS TIMES when my leave was suppose to start the next day and it still shows pending in the system..They are so slow on eveyrhting.
