Both of my sisters/brother-in-laws own Subarus.

    The cars are:

    2006 Outback 2.5 XT
    2006 Impreza WRX

Both cars do not come with HIDs, but rather come with halogen projectors. The halogen projectors perform well, however my brother-in-law with the WRX expressed interest in having HIDs installed in his car.

So I ask you this, is this a matter of simply buying the HID bulbs and a pair of ballasts and performing the installation that way? This should run 2-3 hundred dollars, correct?

I'm hoping that the stock projectors will suffice so that way they don't have to buy new projectors or anything.

    Thanks.

halogen projector are not the best solution for HID application since it's not made for it. You can use xenon bulbs but it'll be better if you retrofit a HID project into the current headlamp which will be pretty simple since it already has projectors.
