Subtitles. The Japanese voice actors just seem more into the role than their American counter-parts. Dubbing just seems to take part of the anime experience away IMO.

i started watching ep 1 of eva, which was dubbed. after a few mins, i immediately deleted it and downloaded a subbed version. in general i agree with jedi, but there are some good dubs out there. and it's nice to just sit back and enjoy instead of reading the entire time.

i like the option of both. dub for things that have tons of signs and crap translated in the background (trying to read them and the subs takes my focus from the actual art and action going on) but flow wise sub is far better.

subs, it may be alot of reading sometime, but its better than the crap voice actors that usually do it

    Dubs

But sometimes it sucks when you're eating loud food like chips. Then I prefer subs.

Subs are for food + watching:bigthumb:

You guys mind overlays on dvds?

I personally have no problem with them but i know alot of other people do. In case you don't know what i'm talking about its replacing say some japanese lettering on a book to english lettering.

    nooooooooooooooooo not this...

anyway sub is better, alot of dubs just plain suck and made the anime seem childish. escaflowne is a perfect example.

and some things just aren't right in english, like foreign movies with english dub is reallly bad/funny.

Escaflowne has a superb dub. It sounds even more "childish" in japanese.

Subs, dubs, it's all good to me.

Ranma 1/2 was one of the first animes I saw in english that wasn't giant japanese monster movie bad.

It changed my outlook on dubs.
