My brother is getting married in Italy next year, and I'm one of the two bridesmaids. My future sister-in-law has left it pretty much open to choose my own style of dress, provided it's knee-length and a wine colour.

She sent me a link with this dress a couple of days ago

I like it, and I like the colour. My only problem is that it's Satin Yoryu, and I'm a little worried that if I'm not stick thin by next July, it's just going to look really unflattering.

Have any of you been bridesmaids before? What kind of dresses have you seen?

I'd love a dress with really thick straps and a square/sweetheart neck line, but I don't know if I'll find that.

I love that style - very flattering.

My sister will likely kill me for posting this, but she found her brown dress, very similar to that at David's Bridal in early 2006. It was some sort of charmeuse satin with an organza layer over it, so it was a bit more forgiving - but she really didn't have much to worry about anyway.

I'm just worried because satin combined with the particular cut of the dress doesn't allow much leeway for not having the textbook perfect body!

I love the style of your sisters dress- I'd rather straps like that as I'm not a huge fan of halterneck.

I love that one- but it's not in the right colour unfortunately :wtc:

I should be ok with satin- I'm probably just worrying too much! If I tone up before next July it'll all be good :x:

Also, I hate bridal boards, but my diamond forum has a bridal section with tons of knowledgeable women who will be able to find all of the affordable wine coloured bridal gowns by all the designers you could even think of.

It's kind of a slow forum, but you should get some amount of help.

    Good luck!

That's adorable - love the style of it! The back is interesting, too. :)

It's Dessy, huh? I'm looking for something for my husband's formal Christmas party, and that looks perfect! :eek3:
