    stupid fucking mac

the ethernet card on my mac is fucked up, i put the cable in but it wont read because it cant go in all the way, i solved that by taping the cable tightly in but i had to take the tape off and now i can shove the cable in as far as it would go but it still wont pick up. am i fucked or can i fix this somehow?

Whats the mac got to do with it? Sounds like either the ethernet card might be shot, or your cable is crap.
Try a different cable, or crimp a new end on it.

ah milani, you and your green iMac...

if your network socket is beat up, look inside to see if the pins are bent. straighten them out with tweezers if you have to. the ethernet chipset in there should probably be okay.

or, you could open the whole bitch up and solder on a new ethernet connector...would probably take some work but not all that hard if you know how to use a soldering iron. might as well upgrade ye ole hard disk while you're in there.

Reminds me of this meeting I had the other day regarding designign a website for a company...
well the boss calls the hosting company to get the FTP info for me... and while on the phone with them he says "why isnt my sbc yahoo working" they didnt say anything and he is liek "what is this shit it says about:blank" somehow he changed his start page... but gosh... the guy from the hosting company was like "argh one of those people" I am sure.

i used to work for one of those guys.

damn founder and chairman of a multi-million dollar company made me change the company website because his AOL 2.0 browser wasn't playing the embedded sound file. :mamoru:

he was a brilliant man, but teh intraweb (or "the information superhighway" as he insisted on calling it :o ) was not his thang.
