My Traps, right behind my neck, hurts A LOT when i'm about to do squats. My friend recommended me to put my towel underneath to cushion the bar from my neck. It eased it a bit. I assume my trap is too weak and sensitive for so much weight to be pressed on it? :dunno: Any ideas?

yeah fuck a bar pad. my lifting partner uses one and I keep telling him his traps are big enough now to support the bar fine, but he still uses it

Keep trying, you'll get used to it eventually. Maybe use two towels if that one isn't enough for you.

i had the same issue when i first started squatting with around 185lbs. i used to use the towel and was defiantely flammed for it. after sucking it up and just taking the pain, i got used to it so quick and looking back..i was a little bitch.

i would lower the bar more and find a better bar placement...preferably your upper back and lower traps.
