I was under the assumption that .223/5.56mm are the same round, different name? but for example winchester sells bullets under both? What do I use in my Ar-15 if it says chamber:5.56/.223 remington...either?

they are the same round for the most part... But I think theres some slight difference, I heard about it before, but I forgot :sad2:

Anyhow, either is fine in your AR-15.

I think the chamber in a 5.56 is a little looser

The 5.56 (NATO) and .223 Remington (SAAMI) have slightly different angles at the throat. If it's NATO spec, then it'll shoot either with no problem. If it's SAAMI, then it's possible that it may have a problem with NATO ammo. (Very Bad Problems)

Most ARs out there are NATO chambered. If it says 5.56/223, then it's the NATO chamber.

Since you bought a RRA, you probably ought to (and may already) know that Wylde 223 is not the same as SAMMI spec. Wylde 223 is actually looser then the NATO spec and will take pretty much anything.

yeah, like i said in the other thread, you're good to go with .223 Wylde. but, you still have a non-chrome lined bore, so clean the damn thing more often that you would, otherwise it'll be a bitch to get clean. in addition to better wear characteristics, chrome lining helps the cleaning process, because shit doesn't stick to it as well.

The trade off is less accuracy in the chrome lined. For anything less then a Bull Barrel Sub MOA Target Rifle, it's not even noticable.

exactly. if you're not shooting matches, you should go with a chrome-line barrel. but, don't worry about it, because there's nothing you can do now.
