If I've forgotten to mute my Macbook Pro before turning it off, how can I mute it during startup? Is there a hotkey that I can press to temporarily disable the startup noise?

It is really annoying when I am in a quiet place, like a library... and I know that if I want to turn my computer on, it's going to say "BUMMM" loud enough that everyone around me can hear.

I used to just plug in my headphones into the jack..I would love to know if there's a better solution than that :o

i gave this advice to someone else, and ill say it again.

although it sounds very ghetto, buy the cheapest headphones you can, cut off the end, then plug that into the headphone jack when ever you need to mute it

no offense guys, but i could have told you that. :o

i was hoping that apple had come up with a non-ghetto solution. you'd think that it wouldn't be that hard for them to remedy.
