the 1911 feels so solid, and the glock rattles like something's broken

it's easy enough to take the slide and the barrel off the frame, but how critical is it to take the firing pins and the other stuff apart to clean?

am i not supposed to get any oils and solvents in the trigger groups?

    :noes:

i have a bottle of rem oil and butches gun oil, and some gun grease.

    which is better?

is a bore brush and patch really necessary to use after every trip to the range? because the butch's bore shine really fucking stinks :rolf:

i better read the archives again

Pearce plug would be $3.50. No fiber optic sights.

Do you want Sig or aftermarket mags?

I'm not a glock guy, so I'll answer these questions in reference to the 1911

The entire 1911 is very simple to disassemble. There isn't a whole lot of a reason to do so, however. Some people replace all of the springs every few hundred thousand rounds, but it's probably not that big of a deal.
Moving parts need lubrication. That includes trigger groups. Since the trigger parts don't see much dirt or carbon, cleaning them with solvent is a little overkill. A few drops of oil every once in a while is all it needs.
I like grease for the rails, it seems to stay in put longer. I use oil everywhere else.

    Necessary? no.
I run a bore snake through my barrel every 5 range trips or so. If you use leadcast, you may need to clean a little more often to help get rid of lube, lead, etc. jacketed bullets keep the barrel pretty clean.

The glock manual covers cleaning, and there are a lot of youtube videos on the subject.
A simple field strip and clean is all that is required. Some do a detailed strip of the glock once a year or so to check and clean parts. Patches are all you really need, though I use q-tips, a nylon bore brush, and patches to clean mine.
I clean my glocks around every 1k rounds, as I shoot 2-300 a week.

Keep cleaner and oil out of the firing pin channel.

    sig mags if possible.

i've been reading mixed reviews on the powermags for the sig

i accidentally ordered a bunch of mags from tripp research when i was trying to find out how much the shipping was

i like them better than the powermags for the 1911 :hs:

I don't know how competitive this is but $40 each for 8rd 225 mags. I make what can be measured in cents after merchant fees.

One day you should come down and I'll set up that 26 for you with a grip job and my version of the sigvigney speedway. The glock striker is suppose to rattle like a tamberine, it it doesn't, not really right.
