Shot this tonight for the school paper - they are running a story on student firefighers. Not sure how I feel about the composition and everything. Just wanting some feedback.

I like it a lot. Face looks a little blown though, if I was going to be picky.

I think the comp is okay. Would have liked to see more of the truck's front. I'm more concerned with the very one-sided lighting you have going on there. Should have places the left light a bit closer to center.

    Shot these too:

I feel like his hands are goofy in this one:

I like this one, he seems really relaxed:

    This is probably my favorite:

I honestly think he looks more relaxed in the second one than in the 3rd and 4th. Who the hell actually puts their elbow up that high and how is it relaxing?

I do agree that you could have done better with the hand placement in #2 though.

I like the idea of #1 but wouldnt have blocked so much of the front of the truck. I also would have lit his face a little better..

they all seem a tad bit oversaturated to me, especially for a newspaper.
otherwise, the lighting on the face is uneven in 1,3,4 and its starting to blow out.

the first one is my favorite, the 2nd three make me uncomfortable.

the first one i dont like how he is blocking the truck, i might have put him on 1 knee faced inwards, about 3-4 steps to his left.

    I like them all.

Agree with what most everyone else has said about not seeing the truck and high elbow.

I like #2 the best, but his hands on his suspenders wouldve made it a little better :bigthumb:

I like the first one, but IMO probably be better if he was next to the truck's door.

Not digging the comp on that first pic... you have a building, firetruck, helmet, and head all in a small 20x20pixel space.. would have liked to see things breaking some edges better.

I agree with all the critiques, maybe try getting the light off the lockers a little bit would make those look better as well.

i actually like the first one the most, but crop out the tree... it's distracting, and throws off the balance of the photo. might as well take it out entirely. just my opinion though.
