Started working at a firm about two-three months ago, and was signed on but we didn't dicuss payments or anything just were going to fill out tax info later on. Anyways, I start off with three projects, I have to design the website from scratch taking them from basic text links and unorganized sites to fully functional power up-to-date designs. Anyways, basically I had to do research on all of them, write short sections, and do so much extra work ontop of designing. Here's the problem.--

I was paid $300 for a deposit, $50 the other night, and we dicussed $10hr possibly, and the firm is big on batering, but I told them that's not an option for me, and they agreed it's fine. It's been a long process trying to figure out what I'm getting paid and they keep beating around the bush. Bascially the firm is really small, so I'm only dealing with the owner if that puts it into perspective.

Right now I'm at about 40-50 hours for each project, as I have designed over 70+ pages, and had to upload them present them etc, did not and am not going to code them though. All in all, the total hours is about 150+ hours, so that would be $1,500 for 3 full website designs.--

However, I called him tonight and asked him how much and he said he'd give me $200! I have so shocked I just said okay we'll talk about it later, what a joke. He told me he was making 4 figures on each project, and he charges $50 hr anyways.

So what should I do now? He loves the designs and is outstandingly happy with them and wants to make them live, etc.-- But I don't want to sell my work for $550, when it's all said and done. What do I do now? I'm really stuck here beacuse I need $700 to pay off a few things, and would settle for that, but I feel like I'm selling myself so so short on this.

So what I'm trying to say is what should I do, I'm really so confused. I know I should have signed a contract, and done terms and what no be we both rushed into it, and next project I'll get one, beacuse there's no way I'll work without one ever agian. Thanks for all the help, I'm in such a tough spot now.

Yes I know this, I screwed myself over, I kept trying to get him to do a contract but he kept delaying payment plans and all that stuff, and we kept dragging it on and on, and finally I just start working and hoping it would end well during the finish. I know he will pay the $200, but don't know about the $1500 I'm about to request.

He obviously had no intention of paying you properly, thus all the kicking dust into the air and avoiding the direct conversation.

You should of cut your losses and moved on before even spending any worth while commitment into the project.

next time get everything in writing, before you touch anything. :)

Ask for the $1500, then the $800ish then goto the customer directly. :big grin:

But for fucks sake, learn to proof-read your writing. I'd hate to see how the sites turned out if you can't even type to OT correctly.

This is all your own fault, everything should be clearly laid out and agreed upon before you even open your HTML editor.

I would ask for your $1500 and tell him to fuck off if he tries to rip you off. Are you at a point where you can take your shit and tell him to screw or did you already pass over the files etc?

You started working for them a few mths ago?

But less than a few mths ago, you were "homeless, jobless, living out of your car" and asking for money from OT?

I seriously think you should get checked out by a mental health specialist.. you're a compulsive liar and probably verging on schizophrenic. Srsly dude. Get help.
