The bout will be Sapp’s second since returning recently at K-1’s Premium 2007 Dynamite on New Year’s Eve. The 6’6”, 360-pound fighter holds a 9-2-1 professional record in mixed martial arts. His only losses are to Kazuyuki Fajita and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. Nortje, who maintains a 1-5 professional record in mixed martial arts, is a 6’11”, 330-pound K-1 kickboxing veteran and professional boxer. He is also a former training partner of Sapp’s. “I’m extremely excited,” said Nortje. “I’ve always seen Bob get big opportunities so I think it’s my turn to show what I can do against him.” A native of South Africa, Nortje relocated last year to Las Vegas, where he has been training with K-1 superstar and world kickboxing champion Ray Sefo. “It’s been a great experience so far. Ray is so knowledgeable in all areas of fighting,” Nortje said. “Stirkeforce at the Dome” also features former UFC heavyweight champion Maurice Smith facing six-time world kickboxing champion Rick Roufus, who will be making his professional MMA debut.
