I personally never stretch before working out.
I've been like this for 6 years with no injuries, but also think stretching could actually help my performance at the gym.

Just curious which type of stretching (dynamic or static) you perform, and specifically what movements for each body part.

    thanks

depends on the type of training you are doing, but in most cases warming up is better than stetching. not everything needs to be stetched as well, to much flexibility can sometimes be a disadvantage.

for me I do a typical judo warmup when doing heavy squats or deads. Don't get as sore after.

I normally warm up with stretching everything, not hardcore but some, then do 5-6 minutes of jogging/running. But I am a noob.

I do the basic stretches before. I don't see why it would hurt to keep flexibility. I see some guys that can't even touch both elbows together and I feel bad for them. Thus I stretch.

i stretch quite a bit, saying that it limits maximal strength i feel is a bit silly.

I do alot of stretching after. I find that doing DC style extreme stretces helps fight off DOMS.

you have to be warm before you stretch remember if you are going to stretch, I will jog for a bit and do a few light weights and then stretch my joints, my flexibility is shockingly bad though as I tighten up quickly so I absolutely have to before I start,

i used to do a light set on every new movement and then stretch out that muscle, they would be static stretches, now I do a mixture before i start. I do dynamic stretches for my back every day.

its what ever works best for you, but I think stretching is a good thing, I used to run a lot though and it was beat into me to stretch out before and after

i don't stretch, i do warm up sets to begin any workout though, can't understand the guys who throw all the weight they can handle on the bar right away, my elbows would go to hell in no time if i did that shit

warmup sets. with some very simple stretching in between.

On leg day I always walk, then jog for 5 minutes just to get the legs ready.

Warm up sets then stretch. I just stretch the muscles I will be using that day. Nothing fancy.

Best analogy I have heard. Think of muscles as rubber bands. Freeze a rubber band and try to stretch it. It doesnt do too good and might snap. Warm that rubber band and it will stretch alot better

I ment a cold rubber band is like your muscle is before warming up.

I always warmup for 5 minutes to get my blood flowing

If I'm doing anything upper body, I always warm up my shoulder complex and rotator cuff with arm circles, light dumbell raises, and some cross body flyes. Also do warmup sets of whatever my first lift is with a light weight, controlled and slow.

I'll do some static stretching when I'm done after my cooldown.

just some basic stretching, and warm-ups then start the real weights.

I'm about 4-5 inches apart and I am very flexible, it's time for you just to pack on some muscle

The analogy I recall with the rubber band is that once stretched it does lose some of its tensile strenght.
Some static stretching that could be used pre workout is stretching the antagonistic muscle of the bodypart(s) to be worked out.

    http://www.defrancostraining.com/articles/archive/articles_stretching-round2.htm

I do some dynamic stretches but only static stretch before a workout is for the hip flexors.
