Stretching before work out

    Been reading that static stretches before working out actually make you temporarily weaker. Supposedly, you're only supposed to stretch after. Any truth to this?

    it (static stretching before) can lead to some pretty noticeable force output differences. NSCA says only static stretch before if having high flexibility is needed for the activity.

    dynamic stretching has helped my back and hips immensely as opposed to the traditional 5 minute bike/treadmill + stretch

    Also, I been hearing a lot of talk lately about stretching doesn't necessarily prevent injury.


    For the stretching before, it takes some "spring" out your muscles. In a lack of better words.

    that's my favorite stretch for whenever legs (which for me is running/biking/eliptical if i'm hurting) are involved, shit feels so cash

    This. Only exception for me is a little bit of static stretching before deadlifting due to a back injury in the past that usually leaves my back feeling pretty tight.

    There isn't a lot of data to back up stretching preventing injury

    What everybody said. I usually just hop on the treadmill for 5min before hitting the weights.
