I played an entire one minute of this at a buddy's place... can't wait to get into it, though I still prefer SF3's artwork a lot better.

I downloaded this... the game doesn't come out for a few days so it was a surprise. To be honest I wasn't really interested in SF4 at all... until I started to play this. On high settings it looks beautiful... and its fun as hell. For some reason, turning on AA, even to 2x, causes my GPU to crap out and the game crashes... not sure if it's a bug or if my 8800GTS512 can't handle it for some reason... doesn't make sense.

I downloaded this pretty much as a demo...kind of tempted to buy it now.

This thread on Neowin has a bunch of people making their own arcade sticks... http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=735472 Kind of makes me want to make two for my PC so I can play with someone else... because keyboard fucking sucks to play on, and my gf has my gamepad for emulators currently :wtc:

Gonna buy this on day one. I've been messing around with the benchmark so far. The game really is beautiful on PC at high res. Worth playing on a smaller screen or hook up to my TV. Hopefully games for windows live doesn't ruin online play.

    Arcade sticks ftw.

I might have to use a gamepad though... which kinda sucks, but it wouldn't be much worst than a PS3 controller.

You planning on getting this through Steam or retail? I like having games in one place (Steam) but I dunno if I want GFWL AND Steam in the background while playing online... :S
I want to build an arcade stick... I may give it a go :hs: Or a cheap 3 button gamepad will do... it's not the same though

Hmm just tried to play this on my laptop. My spec isn't amazing but running the game at fair/high settings gives 27-35fps. Low settings is closer to 40fps.

But why does the game slow down with higher settings if the FPS is reasonable. With the res at 720x576 (or whatever it is) it is MUCH faster (yet still only 40fps)

I'd have thought if it couldn't cope with the higher settings then the FPS would drop to <15 :dunno:

Also why doesn't the game appear to be using all 256mb of RAM on my 8600gs? (using about 120mb)

I have an 8800GTS 512 and the becnhmarks only show ~150MB of VRAM being used with all settings on high/texture default settings/no AA/1680x1050... it doesn't seen to need all the VRAM. Unfortunately, trying to turn on AA even to 2x causes my GPU to begin to die for some reason :dunno:
I think you may be noticing the slowdown a lot more because it 's a fighting game... 30-40 FPS in a fighting game seems like the slowness would be noticeable... after all, there isn't THAT Much going on screen compared to some other games. That's the only idea I have.

:hs: That's fair... I'm in need of saving money so I think I will take the Steam route... although it's nice in a weird way to have that bookshelf full of similar looking PC game boxes :naughty:

www.steampowered.com .. Valve [developer of TF2, CS, Half Life] created their own Digital Distribution network/store a while back... I think when HL2 or Ep 1 was released is where it debuted as a mandatory piece of a software. Basically you buy games off of it, and never have to worry about losing the box/CD/CD key (something that happens to me too often for I'm the opposite of a pack rat) for it's attached to your Steam account.

So far I've gotten Braid, CoD4, BioShock, Assassin's Creed, Orange Box and a bunch of other games off of it... games are usually cheaper + released faster than they are in Canadian retail stores, so I use Steam when I can.

Nope, only PC vs PC, PS3 vs PS3, 360 vs 360... since both are using Microsoft's Live service I'm surprised that 360/PC isn't cross-platform compatible but I guess it would be too much extra work for Capcom/Microsoft.

Fighter on PC could be weird.

I have a busted old joypad for my PC though might give it a whirl.

Yup turning on 2x AA BSODs on Win 7 with latest Nvidia drivers.

Seem to have found a good compromise at 1024x768 with medium models, high background no AA. But that res sucks on a 16:10 screen :sad2:
Why are lower resolutions only in 4:3 ration other than the the 768x576 or whatever it is. I need 1024x640 or something.
