I'm getting this weird error. I don't know why it happens but it looks 99% illegitimate. Basically something is bogging down my sound device so I can't use it and giving me this bogus error. Norton doesn't find shit. Anyone have any ideas?

It happens often enough to be annoying. A reboot fixes it, but its just something that pisses me off. Like, the computer can still produce sounds for certain things, but not thru wav media.

I've tried reinstalling sound drivers as well to no avail.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

BTW Sound card is old Soundblaster LIVE 5.1 Gamer Ed.

Sounds like something is fubar in your system. I've never seen this.
Might be time to reinstall the OS.

When you said "Norton doesn't find shit" which product of Norton are you using?
