    Posting this for a friend...

So all of a sudden he can't log-in to his username anymore, even though he is positive that he didn't change the password. When you put in the correct password it shows an error message (if anything else is put in it does the screen shake like a wrong password).

The Mac "genius" @ the apple store said that he thinks file vault "took over" even though he has never used it. So instead of trying to figure out a solution the "genius" just made him a new account and said he was SOL on getting his docs/pictures/music/etc... from that account.

He still has the account on his computer, is there anyway that he can either be able to log into it again, or get his data off of it? :dunno:

I can more info on the problem if necesary.

:ugh2: or he could just use the password reset tool included with any OS X disc...
