My friend recently bought a refurbished IBM Thinkpad, has a P4 2 ghz processer with 768 megs of RAM. He got it with a clean wipe of the hard drive, brand new install of XP pro. The problem is that the computer will freeze after about 5 minutes of use. Mind you, it's not the entire computer that freezes, just the window that is currently open. He will click My Documents, and that window will freeze. He will open MS Word, and it will freeze. Any ideas?

    Problem solved...another one created.

I eventually just reformatted the laptop using the reformat CD that came with it and it works fine...now Windows is asking me to validate, and the COA on the bottom of the laptop doesn't fucking work. :ugh:
